Comprehensive European hydrogen research project Hy2Market to kick-off
With this week’s EUR 10 million EU-grant for the Hy2Market project, a comprehensive European research programme to strengthen and underpin Europe’s hydrogen economy led by New Energy Coalition, is set to kick-off. The scope of the 3-year project involves a total budget of EUR 14 million. Hy2Market will start off in February 2023 and conclude at the end of January 2026.
The Hy2Market project connects regions across Europe in working on various innovations to boost production, transport and use of green hydrogen. The project builds on the knowledge of European frontrunner regions such as Upper Austria and Rhône-Alpes, the first European Hydrogen Valley in the Northern Netherlands and the HEAVENN project.
In Hy2Market, 38 partners from 10 EU-regions will collaborate. In these regions, market parties and (knowledge) institutions work together on innovations, studies and investments to achieve a robust and innovative hydrogen value chain.
The Hy2Market initiative aims to identify and overcome barriers in production, transport, implementation in industry and mobility and broad integration with standards, legislation and common practices so that hydrogen can play its important role in reaching Fitfor55 and 2050 decarbonization goals. For this a European approach is a must and in Hy2Market the partners will invest heavily in the transfer of their expertise and the knowledge build up during the project.
The partners collaborating in Hy2Market are regional parties from Belgium, Italy, Greece, France, the Netherlands, Austria, Portugal, Spain and Romania.
